Viewing Your Data Sources
Your data sources in Ledgible will now be displayed under the Crypto Sources tab. If you have added data sources previously (including through the options formerly available under the Wallets and Exchanges tabs), they will be listed on the Crypto Sources tab. Select an existing data source to add new entries (for non-API connected sources) or to access options to rename or delete a data source in it's Settings tab.
Adding a Data Source
If you have not added any data sources to Ledgible yet, after logging in to your Ledgible Crypto Tax dashboard, you will be taken to the Tax Overview page as shown below.
To add a data source, go to the Crypto Sources tab and then click the Add Source button at the top right.
The Add Data Source flow allows you to locate all available options to add a particular crypto data source in Ledgible.
- Search Bar: Type the name of your data source to find it in the list.
- Type of DataSource: Choose Blockchain, Custodian, Exchange, Wallet or select All (default) to display all types of data sources.
- Sort By: Select Name (Asc) to display the results in alphabetical order or Name (Des) to display the results in reverse alphabetical order.
- Results: The results of your search using the selected filters are displayed here.
- Rows per page: The number of results to be displayed. Options are 15 (default), 25 or 50.
- Page Selection: Navigate the pages of results using icons for first page, previous page, next page, or last page.
- Back: Exit the Add Data Sources flow and go back to the Crypto Sources tab that displays the list of added data sources.
- Add Unlisted Source: Select this option if your data source is not listed or you would prefer to add your crypto activity by using one of the template file import options or by adding a manual entry. Once your new data source has been saved, you can add additional entries by selecting it from the Crypto Sources tab of your Ledgible dashboard.
- Unlisted Chain: If you cannot locate your wallet or a blockchain that you transacted on, select this option to access the template file import options and the manual entry form (formerly located under the Add Wallet flow in the Wallets tab of the Ledgible Crypto Tax dashboard). Three template file import options are available: Transactions, DeFi Activity, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs).
- Unlisted Exchange: If you cannot locate your exchange, select this option to use the exchange template file import option or to add an exchange using the manual entry form.
Adding an Unlisted Source
You can select one of the available options from the list of common wallets, exchanges and custodian services. If you do not see your wallet listed, you can typically add your transaction history for each blockchain that you have used the wallet on instead. Many blockchain explorers offer CSV file exports that can be used to import your data into Ledgible.
If you do not see one of your data sources listed, you can click the Add Unlisted Source button to access options to add a manual entry or map a CSV file for different types of transactions.
After selecting the Add Unlisted Source button, you can choose Unlisted Chain or Unlisted Exchange.
Adding an Unlisted Chain
If your wallet or a blockchain that you transacted on is not listed, select Unlisted Chain after clicking the Add Unlisted Source button. You can choose between uploading a file or adding a manual entry. You can also use either of these options to add any DeFi Activity that Ledgible did not automatically add or any NFT transaction history.
Importing Transactions From Files
Give your new data source a name that will be used to reference it in the list of data sources on your Crypto Sources tab, then choose Import transactions from files to upload a file containing your regular crypto Transactions, DeFi Activity transactions, or NFT transactions. Choose Next to proceed to the next screen.
Choose the type of transactions contained in your spreadsheet:
- Transactions: standard crypto transactions
- DeFi Activity: decentralized finance (DeFi) transactions not automatically added through another data source (such as staking rewards, liquidity pool activity, etc.)
- Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs): NFT activity (such as minting and trading NFTs)
Once the asset type is selected, click the Next button to proceed to the next screen.
Detailed instructions and a template file you can use to format your transactions correctly are provided after selecting the asset type.
- Select the Template button to download a copy of the file import template for the type of asset that you selected. This file includes detailed instructions for what is expected for each field and an example of each type of transaction in the selected asset.
- Select the Import Entries button to choose the file containing your crypto data. Select the Next button once your file is selected to proceed to the next steps (confirming the number of records to add, reviewing and editing your data due to errors and warnings, then confirming the number of records that will be imported).
It is highly recommended that you download a copy of the template file for the selected type of file import, copy the relevant columns of data from your original spreadsheet file into the copy of the template file, save the completed template, then upload this file to Ledgible in order to import your data correctly. However, you also have the option of uploading your spreadsheet directly and then setting the mapping settings on the next step. You will also have the option to review your data for any warnings or errors and and make edits prior to uploading it to Ledgible.
If much of the data needs editing (such as formatting the quantity to be positive numbers only), it is recommended that you make changes in your preferred spreadsheet editor first prior to uploading it to Ledgible so you have a local copy in case you need to make further edits or re-import the data later.
Please note that the template file and requirements for the file import are different for each of the three asset types under Unlisted Chains as well as the Unlisted Exchange file import option, and these also differ slightly in Ledgible Crypto Accounting.
Entering Transactions Manually
If you don't have a spreadsheet file containing your crypto transaction history or would prefer to enter your transactions manually, give your data source a name to be displayed on your Crypto Sources tab, select Enter transaction manually and then click the Next button to proceed to the manual entry form.
The manual entry option is typically recommended only if you have a few transactions to enter. Once you have added an initial transaction and saved the data source you can add additional entries after selecting it from your Crypto Sources tab.
On the next screen, enter the date and time of the transaction and the time zone.
Select the transaction type from the drop-down menu. You can choose from Transfer Types for standard crypto transactions, DeFi Types for DeFi Activity, or NFT Types for NFT transactions.
Note: Manual entries for all transaction types (including Exchange orders) may also be added using the Create Entry button on the Transactions tab. Exchange orders may also be added via manual entry by selecting Add Unlisted Source > Unlisted Exchange > Enter activity manually. See Entering Orders Manually section below.
Adding an Unlisted Exchange
If an exchange that you used is not listed on the Add Data Source screen, select Unlisted Exchange after clicking the Add Unlisted Source button.
You can choose between uploading a file or adding a manual entry.
Importing Exchange Activity From a File
Give your new data source a name that will be used to reference it in the list of data sources on your Crypto Sources tab, then choose Import exchange activity from a file to upload a file containing your exchange activity. Choose Next to proceed to the next screen.
Detailed instructions and a template file you can use to format your exchange activity correctly are provided after selecting the file import option.
- Select the Template button to download a copy of the file import template for exchanges. This file includes detailed instructions for what is expected for each field and an example of each type of order/transaction.
- Select the Import Entries button to choose the file containing your crypto data. Select the Next button once your file is selected to proceed to the next steps (confirming the number of records to add, reviewing and editing your data due to errors and warnings, then confirming the number of records that will be imported).
It is highly recommended that you download a copy of the template file, copy the relevant columns of data from your original spreadsheet file into the copy of the template file, save the completed template, then upload this file to Ledgible in order to import your data correctly.
Please note that the template file and requirements for the file import are different for the Unlisted Exchange file import option as well as each of the three asset types under Unlisted Chains, and these also differ slightly in Ledgible Crypto Accounting.
Entering Exchange Activity Manually
The manual entry option is typically recommended only if you have a few exchange orders to enter. Once you have added an initial order and saved the data source you can add additional entries after selecting it from your Crypto Sources tab.
If you don't have a spreadsheet file containing your crypto exchange activity or would prefer to enter your exchange orders manually, give your data source a name to be displayed on your Crypto Sources tab, select Enter activity manually and then click the Next button to proceed to the manual entry form.
On the next screen, enter the date and time of the exchange order and the time zone. Select the exchange order type from the drop-down menu. You can choose from Transfer Types for standard crypto transactions, DeFi Types for DeFi Activity, or NFT Types for NFT transactions.
On the next page, select the cryptocurrency used, the amount, and whether or not you would like to use Spot Pricing or Custom Pricing. Ledgible tracks all major cryptocurrencies and will pull an EOD price for the spot price. If the spot pricing isn't tracked for your transaction, you can always go and edit the entry to correct this value.
On the next screen, confirm the details of your transaction and finish the submission to Ledigble by clicking Create.
You will be prompted with a confirmation your exchange has been added, with an option to view the exchange were you can add additional transactions.
Finally, you will need to run an Account Refresh so that Ledgible factors in your new transaction(s) with the rest of your account. This can be found at the top of the page:
Note:
Manual entries for all transaction types (including Exchange orders) may also be added using the Create Entry button on the Transactions tab. Chain/wallet transactions may also be added via manual entry by selecting Add Unlisted Source > Unlisted Chain > Enter transaction manually. SeeEntering Transactions Manually section above.
